Combining traditional and cutting edge techniques, this bespoke guest tutor workshop combines hand embroidery, flocking and foiling on stunning printed textiles. In this workshop Charlotte will teach a method of flocking printed textiles to add immediate colour and texture to your printed designs, including gold and silver foiling to illuminate your drawing / wall hanging. This workshop will introduce you to the process of print design where you will create a final embellished design full of colour and surprising and exciting texture. Lucy will then show how you can further enhance your piece with hand embroidery exploring techniques including hand beading, silk shading and goldwork to create a truly beautiful art piece.

Charlotte Gaunt (Rediscovered By) is a textile designer and screen-printer based in Rutland, England. Trained at Goldsmiths University and the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, Charlotte rediscovers historical and traditional textile techniques and applies these in unexpected ways to diverse range of interiors, from historic homes to contemporary spaces. Recent projects include printed foxgloves (poisonous digitalis) as intricate tablecloths for a farm to table restaurant, a slightly macabre Three Fates woven for a dreamy bed head and fluffy flocked bumblebees which adorn botanical wallpapers.
Lucy Martin
Exploring creative boundaries by drawing parallels between traditional technical stitch ability and cutting-edge design, Lucy Martin is a specialist hand embroidery practitioner based in the UK. Advocating ethical and sustainable design practice through material choice and mindful production, her work explores the parallels between art and nature, questioning whether the true beauty of nature can be replicated with a needle and thread.
