Celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and discover the world of bespoke hand embroidery in Britain's oldest embroidery house with Hand & Lock’s Coronation Crown Goldwork Embroidery Class.
Saturday 6 May is the Coronation day of His Majesty King Charles III. The Coronation Ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside Her Majesty The Queen Consort. Throughout the coronation you will see beautiful examples of Goldwork embroidery.
Goldwork is the art of embroidery using metal threads. Historically associated with ceremonial and military uniform the technique is now also popular in customization, couture and interior design. Using threads that are imitation gold, silver, copper, or coloured allows embroiderers to create metallic surface designs that reflect light and create dazzling effects.
This Goldwork class is designed to introduce you to this beautiful hand embroidery technique and to connect with likeminded embroiderers from around the world. You will be guided by our expert hand embroidery tutors in this bespoke class. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and chat to the tutor as they stitch.
This class design is a Crown. You will be sent the design in a PDF format when you have booked the class if you would like to stitch along with the demonstration.

3 metres x Gold Pearl Purl
Yellow Machine Cotton Thread
Yellow String for Soft String Padding
Beeswax
Fabric: Woven fabric for example a cotton or woven velvet
Equipment:
Embroidery Frame (Seat or Hoop Frame), Sharp Embroidery Scissors, Goldwork Embroidery Scissors, Couture Quality Mellor (a velvet board would also help you to stitch).
