Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout.

Location: 86 Margaret Street, London W1W 8TE

Date: 9th - 10th March 2024

Time: 10:00am - 4:30pm BST

On this creative course we will delve into the many possibilities of taking inspiration from the historical technique of ‘Or Nue - where metal threads are shaded with various colours of soft threads to create contrasting patterns and images. Goldwork threads hold so much potential to explore colour, shade and contrast in embroidery, exploring the beautiful contrast that metal and shade can give us. With a balance of technique and experimentation, there is plenty of ‘breathing space’ left for you to discover your own response to the historical techniques of goldwork.

You will be learning Metal Thread Embroidery.

Throughout the weekend, you will build up your own unique series of hand embroidery samples and explorations which will become a tool kit of techniques and explorations to further your creativity and enhance your practice.

You will need to bring your own sketchbooks and drawing materials (fine liners and pens). All of the rest of the materials you need for this class will be provided for you as part of your course experience. You are more than welcome to bring your own embroidery equipment if you would rather use your own materials but everything will be provided for you.
