Duration: 6 Consecutive 2.5 hour sessions (weekly)
A series of six, three hour online classes, this course is designed to introduce budding embroiderers to a selection of techniques we use here at Hand & Lock and in the world of couture embroidery. The techniques taught in this class are used regularly in London, Paris and New York couture houses and are often seen on the catwalk. You will use a range of materials which will be applied in various techniques to create different effects.

- Bespoke Hand Beading
- Silk Floss & Stranded Thread Work
- Silk Shading
- Contemporary Goldwork
- Contemporary Crewelwork
These bespoke online classes are taught be expert hand embroiderers who have worked in the couture industry for brands such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, YSL, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Schiaparelli, Lanvin and Burberry to name a few. The classes will cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles.
Classes are provided through Zoom and students are sent a special link to watch join the live class. The recordings are then sent out at the end of each session, once downloaded students are able to keep these for as long as they like.

All Shipments outside the UK take 2 weeks, Please do not book onto this class if the class is less than 2 weeks away if you are based outside of the UK as we cannot guarantee the materials will make it to you in time. If you are based in the UK please allow three working days before the start of the class to receive your kit.

Students will also be asked to join a communal WhatsApp group with the students in your class. This allows the tutor to share close up images of stitches that are not visible through zoom. Students will also be invited to share their work for feedback. If you do not want to participate in the WhatsApp group please let us know.
