An in-depth, detailed masterclass covering everything you need to know about Goldwork, this 8 week course teaches industry standard skills from beginner level to advanced. Covering everything from medieval to contemporary Goldwork techniques, you will become equipped with every Goldwork technique and will leave the course able to apply these techniques to any project. Taking inspiration from Hand & Lock's rich Goldwork heritage as Britain's oldest hand embroidery house, this course is perfect for anyone with an interest in this technique.
Amongst other techniques, you will learn: Soft String Padding, Felt Padding, Basketweave, S'sing, Pearl Purl, Chipping, Plate application and much more.
These special online classes show the embroidery stitches from multiple points of view so learning the techniques is as similar to a real class experience. The classes will cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles.
Our bespoke online classes are taught be expert hand embroiderers who have worked in the couture industry for brands such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, YSL, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Schiaparelli, Lanvin and Burberry to name a few. The classes will cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles.

Classes are provided through Zoom and students are sent a special link to watch join the live class. The recordings are then sent out at the end of each session, once downloaded students are able to keep these for as long as they like.

Students will also be asked to join a communal WhatsApp group with the students in your class. This allows the tutor to share close up images of stitches that are not visible through zoom. Students will also be invited to share their work for feedback. If you do not want to participate in the WhatsApp group please let us know.
