This is a rare chance to visit our central London Atelier and learn from a highly experienced master. The classes cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles.
Blackwork - one day class. Our Blackwork class is a new class for 2016 and we are excited to invite embroidery practitioners an enthusiasts alike to join us. In England, Blackworkbecame very fashionable during the reign of Henry VIII and it gained enormouspopularity during the 16th century. The earliest mention of Blackwork isactually found in Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales", which predated HenryVIII by some 200 years, but it was during Tudor times that this formof needlecraft reached its zenith.
Classes take place at the Hand & Lock studio at 86 Margaret Street, London. The nearest tube station is Oxford Circus.

Classes run 10.00 - 4.30 with all course materials provided. Upon completion of the class students can request an official Hand & Lock certificate detailing the new skills mastered.
