Silk shading Level One

Silk Shading, also known as painting with thread is possibly the most artistic embroidery skill you can master. Students will learn how to blend coloured threads to produce depth and realism in their embroidery. The class covers the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and interiors.
Hand & Lock are now running weekend workshops sharing our impressive know how and experience in this field, this is a rare chance to visit our central London Atelier and learn from a highly experienced master.
The class is suitable for beginners and students can achieve a Level 1 upon completion. The class covers the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply monograms to their own garments and develop their own unique styles.
Throughout the day, students will learn the following:
DAY ONEDAY TWO
- Set up hoop frame
- Split stitch
- Stem stitch
- French knots
- long and short stitch
In this class, students will be working with a Floral Design. All materials are provided by Hand & Lock and students are able to take the embroidery pack home.Suitable for beginners.
Classes take place at the Hand & Lock studio at 86 Margaret Street, London. The nearest tube station is Oxford Circus.
Classes run 10.00 - 4.30 with all course materials provided. Upon completion of the class students can request an official Hand & Lock certificate detailing the new skills mastered.
